DIARRA "THE MIGHTY DJ DR" MAYFIELDThe Mighty DJ DR was born in Philadelphia, PA. He was raised in Charlotte, NC since age 9 and fell in love with classic soul music at age 15 when he stumbled across his dad's old school record collection in the shed behind the house. From that point forward DR's life changed!
The Mighty DJ DR has shined and been noted as one of the hardest working and hottest DJ/producers in the Charlotte area since the 90's. DR began his first DJ gig in a club at age 25 with real vinyl records. From there he became a Professional resident DJ for countless Charlotte Venues and events including the birth of First Friday events. He was a DJ in the backcourt lounge for The Charlotte Bobcats 2009 Basketball season. He performed at various private events during the 2012 Democratic National Convention, as well as countless other weddings, galas, fundraisers and corporate events in and around the Charlotte area and South Carolina. He has been published on the front cover of Creative Loafing and won 2011 Club DJ of the year. He’s also been published in Charlotte Pride and PLAY Magazines. DJ DR served as a member of the now defunct group Katskillz Project. Then most recently the recording group The Others, where the group was signed to Undercover Records, an Independent record label in France. www.myspace.com/theothers. His production services have been called upon by artists such as his NC comrades Little Brother, Kam Moye, and Darien Brockington. As a prominent and respected DJ, DR has shared the bill with artists such as Nas, Talib Kweli, Pete Rock, The Roots, Dead Prez, Biz Markie, Raekwon, DJ Jazzy Jeff, The Legendary DJ Kool, Little Brother, The Foreign Exchange, Anthony Hamilton, Sunshine Anderson and countless other celebrities. He formally was a resident DJ for Pop Life events at Republic on Wednesday’s and Apostrophe Lounge on Fridays. Along with countless other events, such as Old School Special Edition’s with Dana Dane at Privilege Lounge. His most recent production projects include Rapper Big Pooh(formerly of Little Brother), the Hip-Hop group VIB's (Virgos In Black) comprised of Mista Spot and Sonny Cheba (formally of Legendary Hip Hop Group Camp Lo). DAMANY "SMILEY" MAYFIELDDamany was born in Louisville, KY and raised in Charlotte, NC. In 2002, his interest for being behind the camera began. He borrowed his dad's 35mm Pentax camera and began photographing many of his friends. The response from
the portraits is what led him to take his hobby to the next level. in 2003, Au Naturale Entertainment Photo and Video was born. Au Naturale Entertainment became the name because he and his brother DR never had any formal training for their God giving abilities and talents. It simply came naturally. Smiley, as he is affectingly called, has close to 9 years of experience shooting models, portraits, weddings, events, product and Boudoir photography. His passion for the still and video formats has led him to be published in local magazines as well as travel extensively. Smiley manages all of the day to day operations of DRandSMILES.com as well as booking for events and weddings. Together DR and Smiley have successfully created to events in Charlotte; Radio Rehab Carolinas featuring live music, art, dancing, vendors and grassroots campaigns and COLURE: Network, Taste, Listen for business and social networking. |
